We are continuing to investigate dolphins’ low-frequency targeting clicks. We have established that dolphins, during target approach, indeed emit frequencies well below their long distance sonar band. We are now working on multiple simultaneous hydrophone recording during target approach in order to capture and isolate outgoing click waveforms and target echoes. Coordinating with simultaneous video, we can measure 3D angle and distance of dolphin to target on a per-click basis.
This data may be the key to understanding how the dolphin sees the target with sound.

Researchers at Speakdolphin.com Create the First 3D Print of Dolphin Echolocation
The prints are made with a unique multi-step process that records and isolates dolphin echolocation sounds on specific objects, creates two-dimensional
images from those sounds, and uses photo analysis to extract three-dimensional data from the images.
This fascinating story about Jack Kassewitz's scientific breakthroughs in dolphin communication and his friendships with orangutans offers much hope for humanity's evolving role as stewards for all animals.
